FAR NORTH FISHING ADVENTURE (One Day Trip)     Itinerary 8.00am Courtesy vehicle pick up from downtown Auckland. 8.20am Depart Heletranz Heliport and fly up the East Coast over beautiful sandy beaches. If you’re lucky you will see the large schools of fish common to this area and the odd shark or two basking in the shallows. As we near Whangarei we wind our way up the river to view our very own waterfall, its whereabouts a well kept secret! Moving on we over-fly Tutukaka Harbour, a popular game-fishing port. We continue north, out to view the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’, ‘no’ unfortunately we don’t fly through it but, yes’ it has been done! From the Rock we return to Cape Brett and the Lighthouse where we can land for 15 minutes, to stretch legs and get some fabulous photos. 9.30am Land at Whangaroa Harbour where you will board your launch for a trip out to deep sea fishing grounds notorious for Zane Grey’s fishing exploits and some of the largest game fish in the world. You will be fishing with rod/reel and baits for local pelagic fish species such as Snapper, Kahawai, Hapuka (Groper or relative of the Bass - in season) and the highly regarded Kingfish (recognized as a game-fish) Morning tea with fresh baked offerings are served as you near the first fishing spot. All fishing gear supplied. Lunch is also served on board during your fishing trip. (Pictured top left to right, Kingfish, Snapper, Hapuka) 3.30am Arrive back in Harbour pack the catch in ice and re-board your helicopter for the flight to Auckland via stop off at Matakohe, Kauri Museum on the West Coast. 4.15pm Enjoy a brief tour of this world class Museum and gain an excellent introduction into the lives of the early New Zealand Kauri Gum Digger. You will then depart again for a spectacular flight down the West Coast beaches, across to Auckland City, around the Sky Tower, and back up the North Shore’s east coast beaches and cliff-top houses.
