ONE DAY TOUR, CAPE REINGA

Itinerary

8.00am

Courtesy transfer from downtown Auckland to Heletranz Heliport. Depart Heletranz Heliport and fly up the East Coast over beautiful sandy beaches. If you’re lucky you will see the large schools of fish, common to this area and the odd shark or two basking in the shallows.
9.45am As we near Whangarei we wind our way up the river to view our very own waterfall, its whereabouts a well kept secret! Moving on we over-fly Tutukaka Harbour, a popular game- fishing port. In game fishing season you may see a Marlin hanging on the scales at the end of the wharf.
10.15am We continue north, out to view the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’, ‘no’ unfortunately we don’t fly through it but, ‘yes’ it has been done! From the Rock we return to Cape Brett and the Lighthouse where we land for 15 minutes, to stretch legs and take some unique photos.
10.20am Arrive at Omata Estate for a wine tasting & morning tea – Omata Estate is poised on a secluded 25 hectare peninsula owned by Omata Estate Vineyard. We then depart Omata Estate for a flight to Cape Reinga over flying Kerikeri, Whangaroa Harbour, Doubtless Bay and the almost moonscape sand dunes of Parengarenga Harbour, landing near North Cape and Cape Reinga light houses and the meeting point of two oceans.
11.45am Depart the Cape Reinga and fly down the famous 90-Mile Beach on the West Coast of the North Island then land at a lodge in Omapere for lunch.
1.45pm After lunch we continue south to the Waipoua Forest landing at Waipoua Lodge where we will leave for the entry point to visit Tane Mahuta (Giant Kauri tree of the forest).
3.15pm We then fly across the Waipoua Forest, landing at Matakohe Museum – No! unlike some museums it is not boring but provides an excellent introduction into the lives of the early New Zealand Kauri Gum Digger. From Matakohe museum we then travel the final leg of our journey landing at the Heletranz heliport.
4.45pm A courtesy vehicle will return you to the City.
