(1) AUCKLAND CITY SPECTACULAR

Heletranz’ City Spectacular flight departs from the Albany heliport to over-fly the North Shore, including suburbs such as Albany and older turn-of-the century suburbs such as Northcote and it’s Chelsea Sugar Works. The flight continues past the Harbour Bridge, Upper harbour towards Point Chevalier, Auckland Zoo, Mt Eden and Eden Park.
 
Auckland is sited on the remnants of 60 Volcanoes, visible en-route is a ring of prominent volcanic cones including Rangitoto Island which erupted a mere 700 years ago.
We over-fly Auckland’s central business district and Viaduct Harbour, (Americas Cup base over the 1999 and 2003 campaigns) and past Sky Tower, noticeably the most prominent man made feature on Auckland’s skyline. The flight then tracks across the Waitemata Harbour to the Devonport Naval Base, North Head and Rangitoto Island, east coast beaches and their multi-million houses before returning to the heliport. The Auckland Spectacular scenic flight takes approximately 20 minutes and is Auckland’s most popular helicopter scenic flight.

(2) WEST COAST AUCKLAND ADVENTURE

$295 per person (available as gift voucher)

This is Heletranz’ most visually spectacular scenic flight. The flight covers Auckland City and the Waitakere Ranges, a feature of Auckland’s western skyline and some New Zealand’s most rugged coastline. The Waitakere Ranges and shore line is renowned for natural New Zealand fauna and flora, wild surf beaches and has been featured in international movies such as The Piano and movie as well as TV series, Hercules.
The West Coast Adventure flight flies from Albany to Bethells (Te Henga) beach, over-flying Kumeu and Huapai - some of New Zealand’s finest grape producing territories. At Bethel’s beach we turn south to follow the coast to view surf-pounded sand beaches and volcanic cliffs with jagged rocks and caves carved out by the centuries. We continue to the beautiful bush of the Waitakere ranges and water reservoirs hidden within. Almost to the mouth of the Manukau Harbour your helicopter leaves primordial New Zealand behind to over- fly suburbs leading to the central city area.
Mount Eden, Mt Hobson, North Head, Rangitoto volcanic cones as well as other visible cones en-route.
We fly from Rangitoto Island across the harbour towards the beautiful East Coast beaches then return heliport.

This flight takes approximately 36 minutes.

(3) AUCKLAND BY NIGHT or SUNSET

To say that Auckland from the air is beautiful is an understatement. At night or at sunset, even more so.
Lifting off from the heliport is a great moment as Auckland’s lights begin to wink into view or the long shadows and rich colours of the late afternoon show why Auckland is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

 

Once in the air the flight tracks cross the Harbour Bridge for Auckland City and its surrounding suburbs. At night or late afternoon the city is quite different. At sunset the landscape softens and at night familiar identities such as volcanic cones disappear altogether and in their place the lights of the city and structures such as the lights of Ericsson Stadium, Alexandra Raceway, Eden Park or some of the local tennis courts combine to create a surreal view of the city.
The flight takes approximately 20 minutes.. Note: Night flights become sunset flights from October to March.
